Stoughton- Herman A. Lien, age 66, passed away at Nazareth Health and Rehab with his wife by his side on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, due to complications from a traumatic brain injury. He was born in Stoughton on September 11, 1948 to Norwegian immigrants Howard and Ingeborg (Bakken) Lien. Herman was united in marriage to Karen Anderson on July 24, 1971 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stoughton, where Herman was confirmed. He was employed at Stoughton Trailers for 25 years. Herman also worked for Rowe Pottery. Along with his brother, Bob, they operated the Door Creek Forge. Herman retired from Lientec in 2013 as a welder. He had a strong work ethic which showed in his craftsmanship. Herman's interests included playing pool and softball, watching football and NASCAR racing, boating and fishing, car restoration, home remodeling, yard work and nature watching. As a proud Corvette owner he was a member of the Stoughton Corvette Club. Herman was always ready for a cold beer and always willing to help out with a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife, Karen; mother, Ingeborg; sister, Helen (Mel) Cleveland; brother, Howard "Bob" (Debbie); nephews, Howard and Donald Lien and Steven Anderson; nieces, Sarah and Hannah Lien; brother-in-law, Allen (Julie) Anderson; and lifelong friend, Roger E. Johnson. Herman was preceded in death by his father, Howard; and sister, JoAnn Sagen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Jerry Tews officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery South. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial, in the church fellowship hall. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of services Monday at church. Thank you to family and friends, Covenant Lutheran Church care team, St. Mary's Hospital staff, Select Specialty Hospital staff, and Nazareth Health and Rehab staff for all of the care and concern extended to Herman and Karen over the past three months. A generous, kind, gentle man, Herman will be forever missed. Please share your memories.
