Herbert Zimmerman

Stoughton- Herbert A. Zimmerman, age 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2013. He was born in Cross Plains on March 20, 1916, the son of Frank and Anna Zimmerman. On June 23, 1938 Herbert was united in marriage to Anastasia Sutter in Mt. Horeb. Herbert was a past member of the Downtown Rotary Club and proud owner of the Meuer Photoart House on State Street. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Stoughton and charter member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. Herbert was well known for his woodworking skills, especially for his walking canes, Bola ties, Roundtoits and tax shelters. He is survived by his children, Jerome (Carol) of Mt. Horeb, Jeannie LaBansky of Lone Rock, Mary Paegelow of Sanford, FL and Thomas (Anne) of Madison; grandchildren, Heidi (Eric) Smedal of Stoughton, Trudy (Joel) Stensaas of Stoughton, Steve (Theresa) Manhart of Los Angeles, CA, Timothy (Kari) Manhart of Stoughton, James Zimmerman of Madison, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Zimmerman of Barneveld, John (Linda) Zimmerman of Mt. Horeb, Christina Pacholski of Sanford, FL, Lisa (Gary) Stottlemyer of Sanford, FL, Anthony (Deborah) Paegelow of Ripon, Patrick Zimmerman of Verona and Kelli Zimmerman of Madison; and 19 great grandchildren. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anastasia; infant son, Michael; and brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren Street, Stoughton, with Fr. Randy Budnar and Msgr. Gerard Healy officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass on Friday. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Parish.
