Harrison "Joe" Mozel McDonald

Harrison “Joe” Mozel McDonald, 92, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024. He was born in Archer, FL on January 7, 1932 to Harrison Mozel Mills and Marian Emma Mills (McDonald) and adopted by his (Uncle) Gordon Southworth McDonald and (Aunt) Loreata Adelaide (Bolt) McDonald of Dixon, IL.

He married Mary Suzanne Walker. She preceded him in death in 1967. He later married Ollie Louise Rhoades. She preceded him in death in 2020.

Joe was an industrial chemist and copywriter working for Burgess Battery of Freeport, IL , Ideal Company of Sycamore, IL and various companies over the years and completing his work history with Timely Advertising, NY.

He is survived by his children: Joseph (Sharon Blackburn), Cindy Angel, Peter (Judith Hellewell), Angela (Eddie Yoshida), Laura Poole and Naomi Robinson; sister Loreata (McDonald) McNally; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and wives, son John Harrison, daughter Belinda (Rocke) and brother-in-law, Joe McNally.

A private celebration of life will be held later and inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Dixon, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
