Madison - Gwynneth L. Strasbaugh, age 85, died on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, with her children by her side. She was born to Pierce and Eleanor (Williamson) Timmis July 2, 1925, in Douglaston, New York. She grew up in Wayne, Pennsylvania, attended Radnor High School and earned a degree in art and advertising from Penn State University where she met her husband, Richard. They married in 1947.  Gwynneth and her husband, who worked for the U.S. Forest Service, lived in the Ozark, Washington-Jefferson and Allegheny National Forests before moving to the Washington, D.C. area, finally settling in Madison in 1958.  She was an active volunteer all her life. Gwynneth was a Scout leader, a member of the League of Women Voters and a long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she served the community in numerous ways, from visiting the homebound to making meals for those in need.  Gwynneth will always be remembered as a wonderful neighbor, a good friend and a loving mother and wife. She is survived by her children Kathleen and Joan of Madison, Louise (San Francisco), Richard and his wife Susan and their daughter Alyssum (Colorado Springs) and her sister Jean Gould (West Chester, PA). She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Norah Grubmeyer, her father, her mother and her stepmother Mary Timmis.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3910 Mineral Point Rd. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Independent Living, Inc., 815 Forward Dr., Madison, WI 53711, attn: Support. The family is grateful to the caregivers at the Haven for their love and kindness and to the volunteers and providers who helped her along the way.
