Gurena M. Linnerud

Stoughton – Gurena M. Linnerud, age 79, passed away on Thursday August 7, 2025, at her home in Stoughton. She was born November 24, 1945, in Stoughton to the late Louis and Theodora (Holtan) Meyer as their only child. She attended UW Oshkosh and was in the Chi Omega Sorority. She married Phillip O. Linnerud on June 23, 1991.

Gurena spent her summers as a little girl up until the end of her life at her family cabin in Wisconsin Dells. Gurena was a musically gifted piano and saxophone player. She was a flight attendant for American Airlines for many years, and London was her favorite city, and Italy was her favorite country. Gurena and Phil traveled to many countries including Africa, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada and all throughout the US. Gurena loved to host dinner parties at her family home and was a fabulous cook. She hosted many Thanksgivings with 20 plus people enjoying her home cooked meals. Gurena’s favorite things included: reading mysteries, enjoying an oaky Chardonnay, fashion, old movies and classic music. She also had a beautiful garden and took pride in caring for her family home. She was a friend to all, kind, warm hearted, a sparkling sense of humor, inviting and had a genuine interest in others.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years Phil Linnerud; her daughter Britton Roth and grandson Theodore.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday September 12, 2025, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 206 W. Prospect St. Stoughton, WI 53589, burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Stoughton. Visitation will be from 4:00 -7:00 PM on Thursday September 11, 2025 at Cress Funeral Home, and also from 10:00 until the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Phil cared for Gurena over the years and would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare and the in-home care givers, Stoughton Hospital, Skaalen Home, Stoughton Senior Center, UW Health, St. Ann Catholic Church, and all Gurena’s family and friends for all the love and care.
