Gregory (“Greg”) Sam Larson, 84, of McFarland, Wisconsin, passed away on February 15, 2026. He was born on June 12, 1941, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Adele (Schroeder) and Sammie Larson.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his children Diane (Jeff) Schluter, Denise (Bud) Cook, and Dennis (Rachel) Larson; grandchildren, Keva Clay, Alicia Anderson, Rob (Nev) Cook, Nichole LaMarche, and Hannah Larson; and great-grandchildren Keiana and Keshawn Clay. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rodger Larson, and daughter Debra (Harold) LaMarche.
Greg grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Memorial High School. He proudly served in the Army Reserves for several years. Greg met Sandy while living in Eau Claire and the two married in 1963. They later moved to McFarland where they built their home and raised their four children. Greg worked as a scanner operator in graphic arts, having worked at Discover Color before retiring. In retirement, Greg stayed busy by fishing, hunting, bowling, and countless hours tinkering in the garage. Greg was the original MacGyver—anything that needed fixing, or more importantly needed improving, stood no chance once Greg was on the job. Most of all, Greg enjoyed time spent with his family and friends—“deck duty” became a beloved family pastime, with countless stories, belly laughs, and memories we will forever cherish.
Greg was a true lover of life who took time to appreciate every moment. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, endless wisdom, and devotion to his family.
A celebration of life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the McFarland Legion, 4911 Burma Road, McFarland, Wisconsin.
