Madison- Greg Straub, age 57, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Madison, WI. He was born in Waukesha, WI on January 18, 1968, and raised by Robert and Marilyn Straub in California.
Greg attended elementary school in Santa Barbara before the family moved to Kokomo, Indiana. He graduated with honors from Kokomo High School in 1986. During Pep Band while playing the saxophone he met the love of his life Lorrie Burns. After high school Greg graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Most of Greg's career was spent working with adolescents with special needs. He most recently worked at ACE hardware and enjoyed interacting with many loyal customers.
On October 8, 2016, Greg and Lorrie were married in Bloomington, Indiana. Together they enjoyed watching Indiana University basketball, watching movies, going out to eat, and road trips especially to Portland, Oregon and the Porcupine Mountains.
Greg was a huge Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan, enjoyed watching many animated series on TV, and spending time with his family, and caring for his canine companions Wrigley and Morty.
Greg is survived by his sons, Holden and Ethan Straub; his wife, Lorrie Burns; father, Bob (Rita) Straub; sister, Jill Straub Crowell; nephews, Christopher (Trista) Straub and Alec Crowell; and niece, Nia Crowell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn.
Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of life gathering from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Primrose Retirement Community of Kokomo, 329 Rainbow Drive, Kokomo, Indiana 46902.
A special thank you to the first responders and to the staff of UW hospital, and to Greg's longtime friends, especially Jason, Clinton, Kelly, Karen, Sabrina, Terry, and Kevin, for their love and support.
