Greg Markielewski

Deerfield- Greg "Weasel" Markielewski, age 54, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born in Madison on June 16, 1959, the son of Dick and Betty Markielewski. On May 13, 1995 Greg married Oona O'Hara. Greg worked for over 25 years for McFarland Metals. In 2005 he started his own business, Lakeland Metal Fabrication. Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his "lake home" in Hazelhurst. He is survived by his wife, Oona; his parents, Dick and Betty; four siblings, Cindy (Scott) Streber, Dawn (Gus) Gessner, Doug (Mary) and Mike; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Nellie. A Celebration of Greg's life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the McFarland American Legion Post 534, 4911 Burma Road, McFarland, starting at 1:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the UW Hospital Palliative Care or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lock, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Hoffman, and to the nurses and staff of the UW Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
