Gordon Ray Johnson

Fitchburg - Gordon Ray Johnson, age 60, of Fitchburg, passed away at his home on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, the end result of a tough battle with congestive heart failure.

    Gordy, as he was known by most, was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Madison, to Alvin and Virginia (Swenson) Johnson. He spent most of his career enjoying his work in the maintenance industry, retiring recently from the Dane County Regional Airport where he was employed for the better part of two decades.  Gordy enjoyed the simple things; his kids, his friends, his pets, and his vices.  Friendly and loyal with a heart of gold, his overstressed ticker sadly decided it could go no more, and he moved on from this world just as he wanted: quietly and peacefully surrounded by that which brought him joy and comfort.  His humor and friendship will be missed by us all.

    He is survived by his two sons, Michael and Aaron Johnson of Fitchburg; brother, Eric (Susan) of Issaquah, Washington and their two sons, and granddaughter, Lauren A.M. Satterwhite of N. Andover, Mass; as well as all of those who happened to cross paths with such a cool and laid back dude.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

    A memorial gathering will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family .
