MADISON-Gordon R. Christensen, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17th, 2013.
Gordon was born on March 28, 1924 in Dousman, Wisconsin, the son of Rolland (Dick) Christensen and Margaret (Krueger) Christensen. He grew up in Lake Mills, WI and lived there until moving to Madison in 1962 to eventually become president of Nickles Electric. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Marines and spent 3 years in the South Pacific with an engineering unit until the end of WWII. When he returned, he married the love of his life, Betty Farr. They have been happily married 68 years. They retired to Arizona in 1987 and recently returned to Madison. Gordon was a member of Rotary International, Kilowatt Club, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, NECA, Nakoma Country Club, past president of the Clarence Bean/Warren George American Legion Post of Lake Mills and past president of the West Side Businessman's Club. He loved to play and watch sports, play cards and did his fair share of travelling with Betty. He and his loving wife enjoyed being with and entertaining their friends, most of whom have remained life-long friends. But his biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Betty M. Christensen, his son Dennis (Monica) Christensen, his daughter Karen (Bobby) Dietrich, his grandchildren: Jamie (Pete) Sunenshine, Joshua Christensen, Stacey (Dan) Lambert, Emily (Mike) Nitido, and Scott (Malorie) Ninemeier, his great grandchildren: Zoe Sunenshine, Jacob Sunenshine, Christian Lambert, Benjamin Nitido and Ashley Lambert. He was also loved by his step grandchildren: Sue (Ninemeier) Cooper, Mary (Ninemeier) Watts, Lisa and Jonathan Golluber and Eric Fox and his step great-grandchildren: Doug, Zack and Rebecca Cooper, Jessica and Joshua Watts, Lucas Golluber, Cody Golluber and Kylie Vaughn Fox.
He is also survived by his brother Gwynn (Pearl) Christensen, brother and sister-in-law Russell (Darlene) Meyers and all of their loving children, Vicki, Tama, Lonnie, Marcie, Jonie and Gary.

Funeral services will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1701 McKenna Blvd., Madison, WI 53711 at 11am on Wednesday, May 22,2012 officiated by Reverend Philip Moldenauer. There will be an hour visitation prior to the service.
