MADISON- Glenn D. Owens, age 94, of Madison passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on January 2, 1922 in Vermillion, South Dakota, the son of Dinsmore and Ellen (Bendixen) Owens. He married Betty Jean Wright on May 27, 1943 in Fort Benning, Georgia. Glenn received his Bachelor's degree in Government from the University of South Dakota in l943. In l949 he received his Master's degree in Government and Public Policy from Denver University. Glenn worked for the University of Wisconsin as Assistant to the Vice President of Administration. He served in the army during World War II and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Glenn was an avid Badger sports fan and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his children, Garry (Joanne) Owens of Marana, Arizona and Debra (Philip) Ristow of Jefferson, Wisconsin, and his grandchildren, John (Heather) Ristow of Sun Prairie, and Abby Ristow of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, and a grandson, Paul Ristow.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Oakwood Village West in the Resurrection Chapel, 6205 Mineral Point Road, Madison with Rev. Martha Nack officiating.
