Glenn Beck

Glenn Leslie Beck, age 66, passed away on February 7, 2018, in Madison. He was the son of Joseph and Margie Beck. He was born on March 3, 1951, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Glenn impressed all who met him by engaging others with the twinkle in his eyes and his charisma. He had a slapstick-style sense of humor, was fiercely independent and loved his autonomy. Over his lifetime, he loved his jobs, whether paid or volunteer, and had an excellent work ethic. He had a mechanical knack for disassembling and re-assembling items, such as his bicycle, computers, and electronics. He loved his computers above all and purchased the latest versions. He loved traveling to warm climates specifically Hawaii and Mexico. Cruises and sharing travel experiences were a highlight for him. When at his home, he loved traveling via the Madison Metro system. Glenn enjoyed gathering friends and family at the Red Lobster, his favorite restaurant, for special occasions. He considered Dr. Pepper his favorite food group. He enjoyed Sunday dinners at his parents' home followed by card games and reveled in winning at Kings Corners!

Glenn was employed by Madison Area Rehabilitation Center as a medical product assembler from 1969 - 1991. Glenn was employed by Willy St. Coop packaging, labeling and stocking food products 1991-1994. Glenn was employed by Dungarvin of Wisconsin photocopying and preparing envelopes for mailing. He worked for years as a clerical assistant for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation scanning human resource documentation to digital format. He loved this job because it included computer work (computers were also his favorite past-time)! Supportive coworkers made Glenn feel welcome and appreciated. A subsequent computer-related job was at USDA Forest Service scanning historical and other patent documents. In addition to his employment, Glenn volunteered at Our Savior Deaf Lutheran Church, Oakwood Village, and The Family Exchange Center.

He is survived by his parents, his brother James, and many nieces and nephews. Glenn's brothers, Dennis (La Crosse) and Steven (Richland Center), preceded him in death.

The family acknowledges the friendship that Glenn and his family shared with his dear friend, Mark Repetti, over the years.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 11:00a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at First Presbyterian Church of Waunakee, 5763 County Road Q, Waunakee. Lunch will be served following the service. Private family internment at Sunset Memory Gardens will be scheduled at a later date.

Glenn's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the attentive care over the years, and especially the last months, to all of Glenn's many caregivers and employers over the years, especially Madison Area Rehabilitation Center, Dungarvin of Wisconsin, his travel companions, Agrace Hospice, Easter Seals, UW Hospital, apartment mates, and Rev. Norm Parsons for his special help.
