SOUTH BEND/MADISON- Gertrude "Trudy" May Woloszyn, age 73, died November 26, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare due to complications of large b-cell lymphoma.
She was born May 31, 1944 in South Bend, IN to Gertrude Harriet (Celmer) and Jacob Woloszyn. She is predeceased by her siblings James, Theresa, and Rosalie. She leaves behind her loving children Gerrie (Joe) Ordaz, Andy (Peter) Dunn, and Rosie (Troy) Bowers; her best friend, Jolyne Franklin; and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Nikki, Special Olympic athlete and artist. Also her step-grandchildren Stephanie and John, along with two step great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Trudy gave her family a powerful legacy of creativity, paying attention to the beauty of the world, and celebrating the holidays. Her children fondly remember her bringing out the construction paper and teaching them how to create their own holiday decorations. And giving them the gift of reading with many trips to the library and signing them up for the monthly book club. She had a wicked sense of humor that she passed on to her children as well. She taught them that laughter can get you through the tough times. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Julie Chang and the UW Carbone Cancer Center, as well as the wonderful staff of Agrace HospiceCare for their excellent and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to either the UW Carbone Cancer Center or Agrace HospiceCare.
Please share your memories of Trudy.
