Geraldine Salomon

Geraldine ""Gerry"" Salomon (nee Cornhill) died Friday, November 28, 2008, at the age of 85.   Gerry had a zest for living and was truly a resident of the world.   Born in East St. Louis, Illinois, she graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Belleville, Illinois, and attended Notre Dame College, also in Belleville.   In the 1940s, she emigrated to Peru, South America, where she lived most of her adult life.   She was active in the expatriate community and held the position of bilingual executive secretary for the Coca Cola Bottling Company, in Lima, Peru.   She was an avid reader, a certified ceramicist, and a crossword puzzle aficionado.   She repatriated to the United States in 2000 and lived in central New York; Oregon, Wisconsin; and, most recently, Ripon, Wisconsin.             She is predeceased by her husband Benjamin Salomon, DDS, with whom she built a house and dental practice in Lima, Peru.   She is survived by her former husband, Emilio Lastarria, Sr., a sister, Clarise Zutter, six childrenSusana Lastarria, Victor Lastarria, Emilio Lastarria, Jr., James Lastarria, Benjamin Salomon, Jr., and Julia E. Salomontwelve grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.             Her family and friends will miss her.
