Gerald Arthur Zimmerman, Milwaukee/Waterloo/Marshall, age 95, passed away peacefully in Middleton, WI, on March 22, 2015. He was born on December 1, 1919, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Arthur and Winifred (Foreman) Zimmerman. He was married in Milwaukee to Agnes Sylvia Urbaniak on March 14, 1942. They were married for 67 years. Gerald was a combat veteran of WWII (101st Airborne), worked in electrical control manufacturing in Milwaukee for nearly 25 years after the war, and owned and operated the Waterloo School Bus Co., in the 1970s and 80s. After retirement, Gerald and Agnes resided in Waterloo, and then Marshall. In 2014, he moved to Heritage Assisted Living in Middleton.
Gerald is preceded in death by his wife Agnes, sister Dorothy Nelsen, brother-in-law Roy Nelsen, nephew Roger Nelsen, and son-in-law David Toepfer. He is survived by his daughter Susan Toepfer, son Arthur Zimmerman (Dedra Hafner), and grandson Elias Zimmerman, all of Madison; granddaughter Rebecca Zimmerman Mendez (Gary), and great-granddaughters Natalia and Naomi, of San Francisco, CA; niece, Geraldine Nelsen, Wawatosa; sisters-in-law Lucille Janasiak, Hales Corners, and Joanne Kurkerewicz, Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. A private memorial service is being planned.
