Marshall/Rice Lake/Janesville - Gerald Leroy Prochazka, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2012 while at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.
Gerald was born on April 17, 1936 in Janesville, the son of Louis and Myrtle (Bainter) Prochazka. He married Beverly Joy Prochazka on December 20, 1983.
Gerald worked for many years as a supervisor for General Motors, he owned the Deep Rock auto service station in Janesville and retired from Auto Glass after 15 years. He was also currently working for the Internal Revenue Service. Gerald served in the National Guard in 1955.
Gerald loved trains and his hobby included building G-scale and HON trains and sceneries.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of Marshall; 6 children, Deb, Gary, Theresa, Tami and Pam Prochazka and Kara (Jim) Mellom; 3 step children, David (Pam) Johnson, Wendy (Eric) Scott and Sandy (Jeff) Hansen, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Mike (Marilyn) Prochazka and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Prochazka and a step son, Brad Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at the Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie WI on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 12:00 PM Noon. A visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Cremation rites will be accorded at a later time.
Memorial donations can be made in Gerald's memory and directed to the family.
