Gerald L. Boyd

McFarland- Gerald L. Boyd, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Marianne's Elder House.  He was born in Reedsburg on April 3, 1936, the son of George and Juanita (Meyer) Boyd.  Gerald graduated from Sparta High School.  He enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served two years.  Following his honorable discharge he worked for the U.S. Post Office in Los Angeles for 25 years.  In November 2003 he moved to McFarland and quickly settled at Marianne's Elder House.  Gerald loved animals and frequently walked Penny around McFarland.  He enjoyed flowers, reading history books, music- especially Frank Sinatra, and was a very talented artist.  Gerald is survived by five siblings, Ken (Barb) Boyd of McFarland, George (Erlinda) Boyd of Reedsburg, Loreen (Dave) Dopkins of Reedsburg, Barbara (Allen) Koch of Richland Center and Judy Mieur of Pardeeville; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Janet and Jane.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in McFarland.  Burial will follow in the Lower McFarland Cemetery.  Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday.  Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc.  A special thank you to Marianne's Elder House for treating Gerald as family, and to the wonderful people of HospiceCare.
