Madison: Georgia Anne Blanchfield, age 65, passed away peacefully at home April 16, 2018, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born November 14, 1952 in Devils Lake, ND the daughter of George and Hjordis (Dokken) Blanchfield.
Georgia grew up on a farm and has always been a farm girl at heart. She loved being outdoors, gardening and all animals. Growing up Georgia was adventurous, and creative. She spent time with her many friends, including Daria Kenner, who was more like a sister to her. Daria and Georgia have stayed in contact thru the years. She graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1970, and fed her love of knowledge at many colleges, lastly earning a Masters in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Georgia was irreverent, whip-smart, and a tireless champion of the downtrodden and underserved. She was no fan of the current political administrations in Wisconsin or Washington. Georgia was a voracious reader, especially books of the travel genre. She also enjoyed authors such as Paul Theroux, Graham Greene, and others that she could name, recite from, and discuss at great length. Georgia also loved to travel. During her 28 year marriage to John Wiley, they traveled extensively. They were able to travel all over North America, Mexico, Cuba, Central and South America, Europe, South, South East, and East Asia, and Africa. Georgia and John also enjoyed several Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises.
Georgia is survived by her husband; John Wiley, son Kai Kennedy, and daughter Blythe Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents.
