Georgene Vitense

Naomi GEORGENE Vitense, age 89, of Madison, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2018. She was the daughter of George and Odie Vitense (both deceased); sister to Yvonne (deceased) and Vicki Vitense; mother of five children - Daniel (deceased), Gayle (Nicholas Biddle), Gary (Robette Shervheim), Gene (Lisa Johnson), and Joel Weitz (Sarah Engler); grandmother to Naomi, Andrew, Jacquelyn, Stacy, Joseph, Rachel, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Heidi, George, and Charles Weitz; and great-grandmother to twelve.

Georgene led a very wonderful busy life of family and friends, travel, music, art, theatre, books, movies, politics, associations, bridge clubs, and more. She graduated from the UW, worked as a stewardess for Eastern Airlines, married Russell Eugene Weitz with whom she raised their children, and then took over running her parents' business -- Vitense Golfland -- with her sisters. At the time of her death she was still active in many organizations and played bridge in five bridge clubs. She thanks everyone for their love and sends it back in huge amounts.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 7th at 1 PM at the First United Methodist Church 203 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Madison.
