Georgean "Jean" Smith

May 22, 1934 — July 30, 2022

Stoughton

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mom Georgean Mae "Jean" Smith, who passed away peacefully in her home on July 29, 2022 just hours after the family cookout she had been so looking forward to and was determined not to miss.

She was born on May 22,1934 in Madison WI to Robert W. and Virginia (Schimming) Nelson. Mom was the heart and soul of our family. A loving wife to Roland, a devoted, loving mother to her kids, and a special friend to all those who knew and loved her. She was caring and compassionate, and she always put others before herself. Most of all, Mom had a great sense of humor, could bring a smile to anyone, and has been described by many as a "Gem".

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, red hatters, card club, playing games, knitting, reading, shopping, and coloring. Everyone who knew Mom knew she'd jump at the chance to take a trip to Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

Jean is survived by her children Rhonda Odor, Renee (Duane) Juve, Randy Smith, Rick (Sue) Smith, and Rosie (Jerald) Moy; brother Bernard (Cindy) Nelson; grandchildren Kate (Nate) Weber, Savanna Smith, Sawyer Smith, Bobby Odor, and Brianna (Brody) Davis; four great-grandchildren; and her very special friend and caregiver, Regina Broyles, who helped to make it possible for mom to stay in her home for the last three years.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Roland; son in law Robert Odor; daughter in law Pam Smith; and sister Beverly Bluel.

Jean will be reunited with Roland at their final resting place with a private family burial at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Stoughton. A celebration of life for both Roland and Jean will be planned for a later date.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers who joined "Team Jean"; Reggie, Stephanie, Rachel and all the others, along with hospice."

"For everything I am today, my mother's love showed the way."
