On February 25th, 2017 at the age of 81, George A. Weir of Poynette / Westfield WI passed away peacefully at home with his family. He lived an extremely full life having raised four children, successfully ran Royal Oak Engineering Inc. / George A. Weir Land Surveying, and he was elected Dane County Surveyor for 19 years. A lover of travel, before embarking on any road trip, he would study atlases to determine what the most scenic route would be. For George, it was all about the journey and the interesting things he would see and experience along the way. He was also a master carpenter, building everything from spiral staircases and custom cabinets to entire houses, spending copious hours in his workshop in his beloved Cottage.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his children, Timothy (Catherine) Schell, Michael (Pamela) Schell, Todd (Jennifer) Schell, and Jill Weir (Eric) Choi; his grandchildren, Evan, Caleb, Lindsey, Anna, Owen, Nicholas, Isabella, Corbin, Talia, Nate, and Jess; a great-grandson, Jameson; his two sisters, Judy Mossburg and Jean Troutline and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elaine (Dewar) Weir and his brother, Gene Weir.
A celebration of George's life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
George always had a smile on his face and he loved to dance. George, we want you to keep that smile and dance to your heart's delight. We miss you!
