George Vanderbloemen

May 12, 1923 — April 16, 2014

Sun Prairie - George I. Vanderbloemen, age 90 passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Town of Dunkirk, Wisconsin, the son of Anton and Serina (Hillestad) Vanderbloemen. George proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. On November 22, 1971, George was united in marriage to Billie Lee Nelson in Madison. George held many positions throughout his career. He was a bartender, a projectionist, and a carpenter. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, bowling, traveling, music and dancing. In his spare time he also enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers. George had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very caring man, whom was loved by many.
George is survived by his loving wife of 44 years; Billie Vanderbloemen of Sun Prairie, ten children; Karen (Rod) Renz of Sun Prairie, Nancy (Doug) Moen of Cottage Grove, Alice (Steve) Tuschen of Sun Prairie, George "Van" (Rose) Vanderbloemen of Tomah, Kris (Scott) Molle of Tomah, Tracy (Greg) Smith of Windsor, Autumn (Larry) Eisenhardt of DeForest, Ken Kulow of Sun Prairie, Shawn (Steve) Young of Sun Prairie and Dan (Ann Navin) Kulow of Milwaukee, 15 grandchildren; Richard (Renell) Renz of Sun Prairie, Michael (Tammy) Renz of Warren, IL, Lori (Brian) Balestri of Eden Prairie, MN, Scott (Allie) Moen of Janesville, Brian (Casey) Moen of Rio, Jim Tuschen of Sun Praire, Mark (Michelle) Tuschen of Sun Prairie, Julie (Chris) Jensen of Tomah, Patricia (Ryan) Norman of Duluth, Philip (Annie) Vanderbloemen of Tomah, Bradley Smith of Madison, Brian Smith of DeForest, Andrew (Lyndsey Kuehl) Eisenhardt of DeForest, Adam Young of Waukesha and Robin Meyer of Sun Prairie, 18 great grandchildren, sister; Marcella Kennedy of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Philip Vanderbloemen, three sisters; Lillian Vanderbloemen, Anna Mae O'Brien, Helen King and two brothers; Richard and John Vanderbloemen.
A celebration of George's life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 am with Reverend Knute Nelson officiating. Military rites will follow the services. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9:30 am until the time of services.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Agrace Hospice and especially a special thank you to Angie, Stephanie and Melanie for all the loving care and attention given to George and our family.
