Madison-George W. Crownhart, age 81, passed away Saturday July 6, 2013 at Sebring Assisted Living. He was born on September 27, 1931 in Madison, the son of Jesse and Hildegarde (Wooll) Crownhart. George grew up in Madison graduating from West High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War attaining the rank of Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer 2nd Class. George received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and practiced law at Murphy & Desmond, The State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Cuna Mutual Insurance, and H&R Block. George was united in marriage with his beloved Mary Hanson on June 25, 1960. He loved being involved in his children's sporting actives when they were younger and spent many days at swim meets, soccer games, hockey games, and the ball diamonds. He was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta Law fraternity, and a member of Rotary Club of Madison. George's smile, love, generosity, and humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Charlie (Jenny) Crownhart of Flagstaff, AZ; Betsy (Jim) Wolfe of Sun Prairie; Eric (Debbie) Crownhart of O'Fallon, IL; Son-in-law Kevin George of Verona ; grandchildren Tessa Wolfe , Jake Wolfe, Justin Crownhart, Cody Crownhart, Mathew Crownhart, Nicholas Boucher, Kayla Boucher, Kirstin George and Jordan George; his closest friend Bernie Maroney and many other relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sherry Vaughan, wife Mary and daughter Katie. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison WI. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Agrace HospiceCare.
