George R. Christensen

February 3, 1949 — August 24, 2008

McFarland -- George R. Christensen died suddenly of natural causes Sunday August 24, 2008 at home. George was born in Stoughton, WI to parents Norman and Kari (Tidemand) Christensen. He moved to Madison after marrying Kay in 1969 and then journeyed to Pleasanton, CA from 1985-1999 to grow his career and provide new opportunities for his family before returning to the Midwest. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School and MATC. He spent the last 41 years proudly working for Webcrafters, Inc in Madison. George was a people person who focused on building strong relationships in both his professional and personal life. As a result, everyone knew George and he impacted many lives. He took care of those who asked for help as well as those who did not. Above all, George was a giver -- a giver of love, time, compassion, and anything anyone ever asked for or needed. He enjoyed Saturday nights at the race track, Sundays watching football, boat rides with family and friends, bowling, golfing, traveling, and spirited conversations any day about sports, life, and most of all, his family. He took great joy in life appreciating the simple things like getting the morning newspaper with his faithful companions Chief and Milo and spending time with his grandkids reading books, watching movies, and teaching them how to play pool. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandpa, and a loyal friend.  He is survived by his father, Norman Christensen of Stoughton; his caring wife of 39 years, Kay; his loving children, Jenifer (Anthony) Guidici of Barrington, Il, and Bjorn (Lisa) Christensen of Waukesha; his sister, Sonja Forler of Stoughton; the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Joseph and Nicolas Guidici and Kellsie and Kiera Christensen; nephew, Daniel Forler of McFarland; as well as countless family members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother Kari.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Western Koshkonong Church, 2633 Church Road, Cottage Grove.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service Thursday.  A time of food and fellowship will follow at the church.
