Genevieve A. Tretheway, age 89, of Madison/Middleton, passed away on October 24, 2013. She was born in Escanaba, Michigan on July 23, 1924, the daughter of Andrew and Grace (Bebeau) Anderson. Genevieve grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, living in Escanaba and Menominee. On August 16, 1944 Genevieve was married to James W. Tretheway of Iron Mountain, Michigan. She lived in Oak Lawn, Illinois from 1948 through 1964, when she and her family moved to Middleton. Before her marriage Genevieve attended Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech. After raising her family of four, she went back and finished her degree at Edgewood College, Madison, graduating in 1974 at the age of 49. Genevieve enjoyed her family and traveling with them in several countries. She was accomplished in the arts, including painting in a variety of media. Genevieve was an active supporter of charitable activities and spent several years assisting hospice families. Genevieve is survived by four children, James (Laura) Tretheway of Madison, John (Willeen) Tretheway of Madison, Michael (Julie) Tretheway of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Barbara (Michelle Beeman) Tretheway of Minneapolis, Minnesota, plus two grandchildren, Geneva (Shawn Penson) Tretheway and Heather Tretheway of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is also survived by two sisters, Grace (Paul) Burns, and Dorothy (Brendan) Daly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her sister Claire (Earl) Demers and brother Peter.
