Genevieve Cork

Madison/Mount Horeb - Genevieve "Gen" S. (Otis, Weitzel) Cork, age 88, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb. She was born on May 31, 1926 in Madison, the first child of the late Wallace and Sylvia (Schram) Otis. Gen married Walter Weitzel in 1943, and had five children. Then in 1950, Gen married Donald G. Cork and had seven children. After Gen's children were raised, she worked for the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a lab assistant for over 15 years, until her retirement. Gen enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards and she most of all, enjoyed family gatherings, which there were many. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She will be dearly missed everyday by all who knew, loved and cared for her.

Gen is survived by 10 of her 12 children; Dale (Bernice) Weitzel, Darlene Reeson, Wayne Weitzel, Valerie (Larry) McCarthy, Donald (Geri) Cork , Thomas (Chris Burger) Cork, Virginia (Mike) Norland, Terry (Robin) Cork, Lora (Jim) Smith, and Dean Cork, 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law; Ann and Beverly Otis.She is also survived by many other loving family and friends.

Gen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Cork , infant daughter Lisa Cork , daughter Gail Foye, her three brothers; Stanley, Lawrence and Dennis Otis and two sons-in-law; Ray Reeson and Ron Foye.

Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 am with Cindy Reeson officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of services. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monona, WI.
