Genelle Y. Eanes was born on March 26, 1929, in Mounds, Illinois, to Roosevelt and Pauline (Hudson) Young.  She was the third of five living children and the last of her immediate family.

Genelle Y. Eanes, age 97, passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 20, 2026, at St. Mary's Care Center/Complete Care Center.

Genelle was an avid reader, dedicated gardener, and loved to travel to visit family and friends.  Genelle worked and cared for the children at Central Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled for over 20 years, until she retired on disability.

Preceded in her death; her parents, Roosevelt and Pauline Young, and siblings Willie B. Turner, John Young, Ola Mae Kendrick, and Ernestine (Young) Meeks; nieces and nephew E. Regins, Suetta, Donna, and Darrell.

She leaves to cherish her memoriy: Sheila Y. Eanes, Paula V. Eanes-McCough (James), and her spiritual daughters, Roxanne Allison and Willa Mae Powell.  She leaves behind her loving nieces: Devra Edwards, Onesia F. Young, Rita Kendrick, and Taryea Thomas(Greg), and nephews Malcolm, Karlton, and Richard Kendrick.  She also leaves behind three generations of nieces, nephews residing in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, and Georgia.  

A visitation for Genelle will be held on Friday, September 4 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., from 10-11 am.  A service will follow at 11 am.
