""Gene"" A. Johnson

Gene Johnson, age 82, died Friday, October 22, 2010 in Fitchburg with his family at his side.  He was born May 31, 1928, in Marshall, the son of Allen and Dorothy (Knapton) Johnson.  Prior to his retirement, Gene was a CPA and partner of Virchow, Krause & Co.  Gene was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a past member of the UW Alumni Association, the Masonic Lodge and Zor Shrine.  On September 3, 1949, Gene was united in marriage with Charlotte Kreger in Sun Prairie, Charlotte preceded Gene in death on April 6, 2004.   Survivors include a son Duane (Carolyn) Johnson of Cross Plains, a daughter Dawn (Tim) Wenzel of Sun Prairie, 4 grandchildren: Benjamin and Angela Johnson and Kevin and Amy Wenzel and 2 great grandchildren: Isiah and Catalina Lopez.  Gene was preceded in death by his wife, a son Dennis and his parents.   Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 26 at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN 550 Lincoln Drive with Reverend Dr. David J. Berggren officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 4:0 pm -- 7:00 pm Monday, October 25 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME 1310 Emerald Terrace and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to HospiceCare, Inc.
