Garry Russel Weisensel, age 69, passed away peacefully with his kids by his side on Friday, August 18, 2017. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on November 15, 1947, son of Lloyd and Lucille (Ebert) Weisensel. Garry graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1965 and after graduation he served in the Army National Guard. He spent most of his career working in the construction industry which, according to his children, sure suited his perfectionist personality. Back in his heyday Garry loved to race fast cars (mopar only) and drink PBR while listening to his favorite music, like The Beach Boys and Jan & Dean. Once he became a father, he enjoyed fishing, teaching & watching Chad play sports, having Colleen follow him around in his garage with tools to help on a project or having her dig up nightcrawlers for him to go fishing with, and swimming with his kids in their family pool. Growing up on his family's farm allowed him to excel in 4H Club, develop an excellent work ethic, and provide him with such joy to visit as a father to have his family experience farm life as well. He talked his whole life of Colleen climbing up the silo, shooting guns with Chad in the farm fields, and taking his family down to the creek to catch crayfish and turtles. Garry took a lot of pride in his homes, his cars, and his beloved garden tractor. He loved that both of his children and three of his grandchildren have all been able to ride the tractor and enjoy it as he did for the past 48 years, his countless hours of tinkering with it in the garage have paid off as he's proud that it still works today. Garry was very proud of all his children's accomplishments, especially the four wonderful grandchildren that he loved.
Garry is survived by his children; Chad (Tammy) Weisensel and Colleen(Anthony) Wheeler; grandchildren Joshua, Holden, Tessa and Sullivan; sister Janet (Gene) Suchomel and brother Larry (Dona) Weisensel; and his children's mother Barb Paffenroth.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Kimberly.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caring ER staff at Columbus Hospital and the ICU staff at St. Mary's Hospital.
