Frank Zeller

September 4, 1925 — September 9, 2013

Stoughton- Frank Zeller, age 88, was called by our Heavenly Father on Monday September 9, 2013 to receive his Eternal Crown. (One week earlier the family had gathered together to celebrate his birthday and had crowned him with our earthly crown!).

Frank was born in Fairview WI on September 4, 1925 to Mary Hedwig (Bernhold) Zeller and Rudolph Zeller, orphaned at the age of 4, and raised by Catholic nuns in LaCrosse until the age of 12. In 1937 he was adopted by Henry and Isabelle Ebert where he gained an appreciation for the land, good cooking, and being able to fix things that were broken. After graduating from Norwalk High School in 1943, Frank signed up with the Army to serve our country in WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant after serving in the South Pacific. In March of 1947 Frank met his future wife Delores Peroff while riding the bus from Minneapolis to La Crosse. Not wanting to waste a June, they were married on June 17, 1947. God blessed their marriage with 5 sons, the joy of their lives, over the coming years: Arick (the late Annie), Alan (Nancy), Frank (Gloria), Fred (Lynne), and Scott (Lydia). Eight grandchildren include Mary, Mark, David, Peter, Lukus, Jakab, Justine, and Madeleine.

Frank worked at Oscar Mayer in Madison for 43 years. He enjoyed working outdoors, planting trees and gardening. He also developed his interests in electronics and woodworking. He was a man of Christian faith who believed in life long learning. He made his political decisions based on the sanctity of life, and the ability of the candidate to speak truthfully. He went to his grave hoping our country would pursue the development of Polywell fusion energy, before the money ran out on other pursuits.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Delores, on March 8, 2005; his parents; his adopted parents; his brother, Alois; and his daughter-in-law Annie. Frank was a member of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church near Cambridge. He also attended services at the Skaalen Sunset Home. Daily Bible reading and prayer were always at the center of Frank's life.

Friends are invited to join the family at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church on Monday, September 16, 2013 for visitation at 9:30am with the funeral following at 11 am. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in East Koshkonong Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, following the burial, in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the East Koshkonong Youth Ministry Program.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the owners and staff of the Sunrise Family Restaurant in Stoughton who have lived up to their name by providing great service, hospitality, and camaraderie to Dad and our family over the years.
