MADISON
Frank J. Reis passed away quietly on Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison at the age of 95. Frank was born on June 1, 1922 to John and Appolonia (Blanche) Reis, the 9th child of 11 and raised in downtown Madison. He attended Holy Redeemer School and graduated from Central High School. He was employed by Gisholt Machine Company until its closure and then at Madison Machine & Engineering until his retirement.
Frank loved to fish the Madison lakes and often spent his lunch hour from work fishing at nearby Vilas Park. He passed that love of fishing onto his sons. Frank and Verleen (Koss) were married on November 28, 1948. Verleen predeceased Frank in 1994.
Frank is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Neil) Howell; sons Craig (Sue) Reis and Kevin (Andrea) Reis; grandchildren Jennifer (Kyle) Von Ruden, John Reis, David Howell (Jessica Hamm), and Alison (Matt) Engel; and great grandchildren Samantha and Reis Von Ruden. He was preceded in death by brothers Wilmar, Karl, Nick, Floyd, Jack, Joe, and Gilbert; his sisters Marcella, Estrella and Alice; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Cress Center, 6021 University Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial is planned.
