Madison - Frank Keller passed away at UW Hospital on September, 23, 2010 following an illness. Frank was born on March 18, 1937 in Safford, Arizona to Frank Keller and Frances Byrne Keller. The family lived in Arizona until after World War II. In 1946 they moved to the San Joaquin Valley in California. He graduated from Delano High School in 1955. He went on to graduate from Fresno State University.
Frank had a varied and interesting life. He served in the Army and moved to Alaska following the 1964 earthquake to work in construction. He met his wife Marilyn Gartland of Madison in Alaska. They lived in Anchorage, Alaska and San Diego, California before moving to Wisconsin in 1970.
Frank had a lifelong interest in carpentry and construction. He worked for many years as a carpenter and later in life was a business representative for the Carpenters Union local 314.
He had a longstanding interest in sports. As a youth he played on his high school football team and on his junior college team. He was an avid Badger football fan, unless they played Fresno State. Frank also enjoyed horse racing and motor sports, going to Brewer games, and watching the Packers. Besides sports, Frank was knowledgeable about current events and economics. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
He is survived by his son, Michael of Madison; his daughter, Kathleen and son-in-law Jeffrey Kelly of Madison; his brother, Peter of Tucson, Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Miyuki and Granddaughter, Monica of Nagoya, Japan. He was preceded in death by his former wife and his sister Jane.
A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
