Frances Marie Nelson

Madison-Cottage Grove-Portage- Sun Prairie: Frances Marie Nelson, age 88, passed away at Talamore Senior Living Monday, July 1, 2024. She was born November 15, 1935 the daughter of Nicholas J. and Josephine Fiore. Frances married Milo R. Nelson February 11, 1956 in Madison. 

Fran grew up in the Greenbush neighborhood in Madison, graduated from Madison Central High School and attended UW Madison. She worked at US Bank for 30 years, during which time she earned a stockbroker License and worked to be become a Vice President. Fran was active with many volunteer organizations including the Girl Scout Black Hawk Council (she served on their board of directors), Quota International as local and International President, was a member of the Women’s Civic Club of Madison, and volunteered at church. Fran was passionate about life and family. She loved to cook (and she was an awesome cook), she loved all kinds of music and dancing, and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed attending Fireside Plays, golf, travel, card playing, and camping. Her greatest joy and pride was her family. She raised 5 girls and encouraged them to work hard, get an education, and follow their dreams. She was involved in their lives and enjoyed cheering for her grandchildren in sports. Fran was a true role model. She was one who always did the right thing, she was warm and sincere, and helped so many people. She positively touched the lives of so many people. 

Fran is survived by her daughters; Pamela Anderson (Steven Bethke), Nancy (John) Quirk, Jeanne (John) Shearer, and Karen (Dave) DeLoof, numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nicholas and Josephine Fiore, husband Milo Nelson, daughter, Patricia (Dave) Endres, brothers Anthony and Nicholas Fiore, and a sister Sabrina Fiore. 

Her family would like to acknowledge Edie Lou Anderson (BFF) and her other friends at Liberty Square and thank the loving, caring staff at Talamore. Thanks!

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Sunday July 14, 2024 at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705. A memorial service will follow at 11:30.
