Frances C. Benzmiller

Sun Prairie - The wait is over – Jesus is calling. Fran slipped from here to there into the arms of Jesus her Savior on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 88. Led by her guardian angel, she was surrounded by love.

Frances Carol (Cerutti) Benzmiller was born on February 24, 1937, in her parents’ home in Rockford, Illinois. She was born into a loving family, the youngest of two daughters, born to Andrew and Florine (Sisti) Cerutti. Fran was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St James Catholic Grade School and Bishop Muldoon High School in Rockford. She graduated in the class of 1958 from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison.

On a blind date, Fran met her best friend and love of her life, Robert (Bob) Benzmiller. They wed on October 11, 1958, and were blessed with five beautiful children. Their marriage was filled with love and laughter. Bob and Fran made their home in the Sun Prairie area and were among the founding members of St Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie (now part of Epiphany of the Lord Parish).

Mourning her passing and celebrating her life are her son Thomas (Marlene) Benzmiller; daughter Sherry Benzmiller; granddaughters Dr. Kathrynn (James) Fee and Heather (Raj) Sultanian; great grandchildren Claire, Jeremiah, Bridget and Nathaniel Fee; sister-in-law Mary MacLeish; many nieces and nephews; and loving friends.

Fran was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob; son Andy; daughter Terri; infant son Michael; her parents; sister and brother-in-law Louise and Clyde Greene; parents-in-law Robert and Marie Benzmiller; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ann and Vernon Herr; and brother-in-law William MacLeish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert the Great Dr. in Sun Prairie. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 6 from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass at church.

A special thank you to the staff of Sage Meadows of Middleton and Brighton Hospice for the loving care they provided Fran.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carbone Cancer Center or Brighton Hospice.

Don’t “Rest in Peace” to Me, Wish Me Joy! - Anonymous

“When I die, if and when I go to Heaven, I will humbly approach the King, join the angels and saints and sing alleluia and then, full of joy, I will clap my hands, tap my toes, and continue to sing and join those I know and love – Wish Me Joy!”
