Floyd Kleppe

July 2, 1923 — November 7, 2015

Madison- Floyd H. Kleppe, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Captiol Lakes. He was born in Belleville on July 2, 1923, the son of Lauren and Marie Kleppe. Floyd was drafted into the U.S. Army, he served his country during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific. He received his Bachelor's degree from UW-Platteville, and graduated with a degree in funeral service from Milwaukee Area Technical College. In 1948 Floyd started working for Frautschi Funeral Home and Furniture Store where he met his future wife. On September 2, 1952 Floyd married Jermaine "Jeri" Thomas. Floyd worked for Frautschi's and then for the Robert W. Cress family for over 50 years. He enjoyed boating, antique cars, and riding around in his convertible. Floyd was a member of the Elk's Lodge #410, and Zor Shrine. He was very patriotic and proud to celebrate patriotic holidays and fly the American flag. Floyd was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Floyd is survived by his four children, Lynn Hinkson of Valrico, FL, Chris (Mary) of Madison, Kim of Madison, and Lesa (Jeff) Page of Cottage Grove; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Eric, Allison, Marissa, Sara, Samuel, and Hailey; two great granddaughters, Carly and Braelynd; sister, Elaine (Norm) Schaller; many extended relatives; and beloved longtime friend, Norma Klagos. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeri, in 1974; and brother, Lyle, in 2012. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with Rev. Scot Sorensen officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 15, 2015, and from 12:30 PM until the time of services, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the charity of the donor's choice. A special thank you to the staff of Capitol Lakes, and to Jeanette Anderson for her compassionate care of Floyd. Please share your memories of Floyd.
