Madison - Floyd I. Jones passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday October 16, 2015. He was born November 6, 1926 to John and Gertrude Jones in Lebo, Kansas. Floyd served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 and was stationed in Germany. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University. Floyd married the love of his life Lois Steen on September 25, 1949 and recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. Floyd was proud of being the Traffic Engineer for the City of Madison until his retirement in 1989. Floyd was active in the Madison community, participating in the Institute of Traffic Engineers, Downtown Optimists, American Legion Post 553, Masonic Lodge 180 and Zor Shrine Motorcycle Patrol. He enjoyed fishing, water skiing, hunting, camping, and any activities with family. Floyd and his wife Lois were proud winter Texans.
Floyd is survived by his wife Lois, daughter Janis (Mike) Metcalf and son Paul (Diane) Jones, his 5 grandchildren, Zachary (Heather), Becky (Daryl), Vicki (Evan), Charli (Forest), A.J. and his 5 great granddaughters. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, and his 4 siblings, Marie, John Jr., Dorothy, and Gertrude.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 22, 2015 at BETHANY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 3910 Mineral Point Road, Madison with Rev. Brad Mather presiding. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.on Wednesday October 21 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Memorials can be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, Zor Shrine, or the American Heart Association.
