Rockford - Flora MacDonald Taylor, age 72, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. Flora was born on May 7, 1940 in Santa Barbara, California, the daughter of Robert and Josephine (Korshavn) MacDonald. She married Henry W Taylor in 1959. They were later divorced. Flora moved to Rockford in 1960 and after raising her family pursued a career where she could make a difference in other people's lives. She worked at the Winnebago Boone ARC prior to joining Rockford Health System in 1984, where she has served as Director of Volunteer Programs since 1987.
Flora enjoyed spending time with her family, especially summers in Wisconsin, trips to her native California, and exploring the back-roads wherever she was.
Flora is survived by her granddaughter Cecelia Lewis of Rockford, her daughter Tami (Gary) Walker and grandchildren David and Allison of Rochester MN; her sister Barbara Mendoza of Santa Barbara CA; godsons Ken, Matt, Bart and Hank; numerous nieces and nephews, and her Rockford Health System family of staff and volunteers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter Wendy W. Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at 3rd Presbyterian Church, 1221 Custer Avenue, Rockford Illinois on Monday July 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Dr. Murray Hanson presiding. Friends may greet the family at the church beginning at 9:30 AM.
