Eyleen Chou

July 17, 1987 — August 26, 2013

Eyleen Chou, age 26, of Madison passed away on August 26, 2013. She was born on July 17, 1987 to Jei and Lu Chou. She is survived by her parents and her brother, Harry. Eyleen was my sister, who I loved very much. When we were young, in the late summer we would often hunt around the backyard garden for impatiens seedpods to pop. I have many, many happy memories with my sister. It might be said that there are countless memories. Sadly, happy times and memories with Eyleen have been made finite by her passing. Today, there are so many seedpods to pop.

Eyleen was an artist, an athlete, an engineer, and a leader. She excelled in almost everything she tried, applying her sharp intellect and innate talents. She captained the girls cross country team at Madison Memorial. She competed in multiple triathlons. She contributed to many team wins in many ultimate frisbee tournaments across the country. She created hundreds of pieces of pottery. She led the Engineers without Borders organization at UW and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. She worked to expand wireless infrastructure and to manufacture therapeutic food in Haiti. In all of these accomplishments is the spirit of a young woman who deeply loved this world, and loved the people in it most of all.

A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. with Msgr. Thomas Baxter presiding. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
