Ewan Thomas Sr.

Ewan James Thomas Sr. was born December 29, 1948 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the union of James and Susie Thomas. Ewan departed this life in his home on October 19, 2014.
Ewan was the second of 12 children. His parents, and son, Ewan James Thomas, Jr.; sister Christiana and three brothers, Leroy, Verduis and Kim preceded him in death.
Ewan accepted Christ at an early age. Throughout his childhood the Word of God was taught at home every Saturday, lead by his Aunt Lucille, a devout missionary.
Ewan attended Forrestville High School in Chicago Illinois. He loved Chicago and represented Chicago wherever he went.
In 1971 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served honorably and received the National Defense Service Medals for Sharpshooter Rifle and Pistol; Bronze Service Star and Campaign Medal.
Ewan held many jobs throughout his lifetime until his health prevented him from doing so.
On September 3, 1993 he was united in holy matrimony to Stella Chamblis. He lovingly referred to his wife as his Honey Estelle. Stella lovingly devoted herself to the care of her husband until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Stella Chamblis-Thomas, Stella's children and grandchildren, his two brothers Derrick of Chicago, IL, and Carl of Ft Wayne, Indiana, five sisters, Vivian Boatner of Doraville, Georgia, Cynthia of Evanston, Illinois, Carolyn of Ft Wayne, Indiana , Darlene of Chicago, Illinois and Debra of Memphis, Tennessee, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services with Military Rites will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 1:30 pm. A time to gather will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00pm until the time of service.
