Eunice Patt

September 26, 1920 — January 23, 2016

Sun Prairie - Eunice Mae (Oma) Patt, died peacefully on Saturday, January 23rd at the age of 95. The University of Wisconsin-Madison has lost one of their biggest Badger fans. She was a joyful, fun-loving, optimistic, cheerful, and strong woman who will be greatly missed by all.

Eunice was born in the Town of Vienna, WI on Sept. 26, 1920 to Sadie Durkee and Charles Farwell. Eunice and Raymond Patt were the first couple to be married in the Windsor United Church of Christ in 1938 and shared their lives happily until his death in 2002. They raised their two daughters, Judi and Kathy, in Sun Prairie. Eunice was active in both community and church activities throughout her life. With over 80 years of service, she was one of the longest living members of the Windsor church, an active member in Rachel Circle, produced hundreds of homemade greeting cards for parishioners, and enjoyed her membership in the Sun Prairie Colonial Club.

Eunice was a graduate of DeForest High School. After many years as a homemaker, she took great pride in her work at the UW-Madison Purchasing Department and retired after 20 years of service. A cheerleader in high school, Eunice continued cheering throughout her life. She wore her Badger pride on her sleeve and, not willing to be an armchair supporter of their team, she convinced Ray to drive to games in almost every stadium in the Big Ten. She and Ray also drove countless miles to OPAMO - an A-frame built with love in Ignace, Ontario and shared with family and friends since 1968. OPAMO was heaven-on-earth for Ray and Eunice.

Eunice was modest about her own accomplishments, easily deflected praise or interest in herself, and instead preferred to talk about the accomplishments of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Through example, she instilled in her family a sense of pride in hard work, selflessness, commitment, perseverance, optimism, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, and four siblings, Coyt, George, and Myron Farwell and Fern Schwebs. She is survived by her children, Judi (Neil) Oldridge (Glendale, WI) and Kathy (Ed) Boebel (Sun Prairie); grand/greatgrandchildren, Dave (Arlene), Katie, and Jackie Duckert (Sarnia, Ontario, Canada); Jill (Rob), Taylor, and Kieran Paddock (Grafton, WI); Dan (Denise), Aric, and Sibley Duckert (Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada); Brian (Erika), Ben, Libby, and Tommy Boebel (St. Michael, MN); and Kris (Mike), Ava, and Jenna Hasson (Maple Grove, MN). The family thanks the Sun Prairie Health Care Center staff, who were like family, for their loving attention and care to Eunice and for making such a beautiful home for her for the past four years.

Eunice was a remarkable woman and the central figure in a large and loving family. She brought everyone together and was, in turn, surrounded by love.

A celebration of Eunice's life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30th at 11:00 a.m. at WINDSOR UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 4434 Second St., Windsor, with The Reverend Dr. David McDonald and The Reverend Dr. Julie Overman officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to the Windsor United Church of Christ.
