Eunice Hendrickson

Eunice Hendrickson, age 92, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at her residence. She was born October 30, 1919 in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin to William Sommers Jr. and Ida Sime Sommers. Eunice graduated from East High School in 1937 and Madison Business College. She worked for the State of Wisconsin and later E.W. Parker Jewelers until her retirement. On February 7, 1946 she married John Parker Hendrickson. Eunice was a member of the Melody Chapter of Eastern Star, Alltrusa Club, and Daughters of the Nile, where she was a Past Queen of Antioch Temple No. 113. Eunice loved reading, country living, visiting their cottage in northern Wisconsin, volunteering at the Oakwood Gift Shop, and her many pets. She was the 1st Spelling Bee Champion in Dane County in 1934.

Eunice is survived by her brother Gene Sommers of Wisconsin Rapids; sons Dave (Cindy) Hendrickson of Onalaska and John Hendrickson of Verona; daughters Liz (Ron) Byers of Westfield and Susan (Bill) Pleus, of Madison; 8 grandchildren: Becky, Stephanie, and Jessie Hendrickson, Eric Pleus, Jim Byers, Ronnie Byers, Lynn Andersen, and Sarah Bagstad; 18 great grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; John, her parents, her sisters Thelma Marsh and Margaret Gjestson, her brothers Wesley Sommers and Arnold Sommers, and her grandson Adam Parker Pleus.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI 53705, with Chaplain Shirley Kelter officiating.
