Stoughton- Eugene W. Grochowski, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014 at his home. He was born in Chicago on January 16, 1924, the son of Walter and Marie Grochowski. Gene served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. On September 30, 1946 he married Theresa Czysen. Gene worked as a truck driver for Central Wisconsin Transport for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Theresa; two children, Mitchell (Mary) Growe and Linda Czosnyka; six grandchildren, Steven Hatak, Roberta Goszczycki, Laura (Louis) Palao, Kenneth (Jennifer) Czosnyka Jr., Mitchell Growe Jr. and Jennifer (Tom) Walsh; 16 great grandchildren, Casey, Alexis, Amanda, Louie, Justin, Miranda, Tyler, Leila, Steven, Mercedes, Mitchell, Ashley, Michael, Tom Jr., Danny and Bobby; and Gene's adopted family, Gary Teigen and Anne Kolash. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pat Hatak; son-in-law, Ken Czosnyka; two sisters, Myra and Charlotte; and brother, Mitchell. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 PM until the time of services Monday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Please share your memories.
