Eugene Brockmiller

Madison-Eugene H. Brockmiller, age 78, passed away in his sleep on April. 2, 2012 in La Crosse, WI. He was born in Madison on May 7, 1933, the son of Harold and Charlotte (Nickel) Brockmiller. He graduated from East High School, class of 1952. Eugene served in the U.S Army from 1953 to 1955 and was very proud of his honorable service. On Feb. 13, 1963 he married the love of his life Wilma A. Schams at First United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2011.
Eugene worked as a mail carrier for the U.S postal service until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Eugene was known by some co-workers as "it ain't gonna rain today Brockmiller", he had an uncanny ability to call in sick when the weather was bad. Eugene enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers. He also liked fishing and finding treasures at rummage sales.
Eugene is survived by his children, William (Natalya) Brockmiller and Barbara (Leo) Ocola; four grandchildren, Tanner Brockmiller, Alex Ocola, Rhett Brockmiller and Paloma Ocola; step sister, Phyllis and step brother, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by, his wife; son Timothy; his parents and his half-sister Vernice.
A funeral service will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Monday, April 9, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend G. Keith Schroerlucke. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Eugene's honor to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 18th Street Northwest Washington, DC 20006.
