Ethelyn Eickner

MADISON - Ethelyn O. Eickner, age 95, passed away on Tue. Feb. 16, 2016 in Middleton. She was born July 7, 1920 in Amberg, WI, the daughter of Ambrose and Wilhelmina (Fossman) McTrusty. Her family later moved to Montello where she was a graduate of Montello High School.

Ethelyn and Herbert met when she moved to Portage and started working in his parent's restaurant, Eickner's Caf�. They married on April 12, 1941 and moved to Madison where they raised four daughters. Ethelyn was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed needlework, crossword puzzles, reading and politics. She and Herbert were lifelong members of Bethany Methodist Church where they had been charter members since 1952.

Ethelyn is survived by her four daughters; Donna (Robert) Haynie, Cheryl (Malcolm) Leslie, Mary Jo (Bob) Hammond, and Barbara (Dean) Nelson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a brother, Ambrose (Dorothy) McTrusty and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Herbert; three siblings Arno, Muriel and Henry.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday Feb. 21, 2016 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison with Rev. Greg Jewison presiding. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
