Ethel Buchmiller

Stoughton- Ethel Buchmiller, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Stoughton Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Cochrane on January 3, 1925 the daughter of Arthur and Emma Suhr. Ethel attended Cochrane public schools and Northwestern Institute of Medical Technology in MN. On February 6, 1945 she married Archie A. Buchmiller. Together they lived in several small towns in WI before settling in McFarland, where Archie was the first Superintendent of McFarland Schools. Ethel was a member of McFarland Lutheran Church for 50 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother and enjoyed entertaining. Ethel worked at First WI Bank in Stoughton. Early in her retirement she enjoyed travelling and being involved in her grandchildren's activities. Ethel is survived by her son, Robert (Carole) Buchmiller of Iowa City, IA; daughter, JoAnn (Dale) Marsden of McFarland; four grandchildren, Thomas (Kristin) Sornson, Crystal (Ben) Palmer, David Buchmiller and Kimberly (Joshua) Phelps; great grandson, Nathanael; sister, Lois Suhr; and brother, Victor (Gloria) Suhr. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Archie, in 1991. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, with Rev. Timothy Dean and Rev. James Koza officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following the services in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at church. Memorials may be made to Skaalen Retirement Services or to McFarland Lutheran Church.
