She married Alfred M. Ballweg on Nov 7, 1940, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1995. She farmed most of her life in Waunakee with her husband. With raising eight children, she was always busy making a loving home for her family. She was a member of St John's Catholic Church in Waunakee.
Ethel loved flowers and plants and for many years took care of the plants at her residence at Sienna Crest (formerly Creekwood). What wonderful loving memories we have of her always welcoming everyone with a smile. Fond memories of her busy baking bread, rolls and pies on Saturday. She recently was able to join in a celebration for her 8th grade graduation in 1928 from St. Peter's Catholic School in Ashton. Mom and Dad were founding members of the Westport Square Dancers with many years of dancing enjoyment.
Survivors include her three daughters; Jan Meinholz of Middleton, Nancy (Gary) Ripp of Waunakee, and Sue (Marty) Batz of Waunakee; five sons, Jim (Lucille) of Sun Prairie, Ken of Middleton, Gordy (Lea) of Huntley, IL, Ron (Michele) of Waunakee, and Jerry (Teresa Steele) of Black Earth; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Lorraine) Maly, brother-in-law, Gene Schuster and one sister-in-law, Margaret Ballweg. She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandchildren, Doug and Gwen; one great grandchild, Samantha; six sisters, Julia (Ambrose) Meinholz, Ann (Werner) Kessenich, Josephine (Leo) Greiber, Rosina (Herbert) Ballweg, Viola (Jim) Kaltenberg, and Antionette Schuster; and three brothers, Herbert (Eleanor) Maly, Roman (Esther) Maly, and Walter (Evelyn) Maly.
