McFarland - Esther Richmond, age 89, passed away on February 28, 2015 at Fairhaven Nursing Home. She was born on April 12, 1925 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Olaf and Jennie (Dahl) Nelson. She married Floyd Earl Richmond on September 11, 1943.
Esther loved her whole family. She enjoyed raising and spending time with all of them. She enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Tomahawk, Wisconsin with friends and family. For 24 years she worked as a Key Punch Operator for the tax department in Madison, until her retirement in 1987.
She is survived by her children, son Floyd "Butch" Richmond of McFarland; daughter Lois "Cookie" (Rev. David) Huxley of Midland , TX.; son James (Sheryl) Richmond of Portage; daughter Julie Stopen (Dan Moe) of McFarland; sister; Jeanette Strassman of Monona brother; Norman Nelson of Dubuque, IA.; sister; Corrine (Jack) Thomas of Cottage Grove. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents father Olaf in 1972 and mother Jennie in 1985, husband Floyd in 1994, son Eugene Robert Richmond in 2010, grandson Tony Richmond in 2000, daughter in-law Joan Richmond in 1997, sister Pearl Marks, brother Harold Nelson II, and brother Harold Nelson I at the age of 3.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 7, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 5801 Hwy 51, McFarland, with Rev. David Huxley presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Fairhaven Nursing home for the love and care they have provided to her over the years.
