Mauston/Sun Prairie - Erwin Henry "Ed" Henneman, age 84, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was born on December 2, 1931 in St. Paul Minnesota, the son of Raymond and Emma (Lambrecht) Henneman. Erwin was a 1949 graduate of Colfax High School in Colfax, Wisconsin. He joined the US Army, where he studied electronics and worked on the first US Guided Missiles while stationed in White Sands, New Mexico. He continued his education at UW Madison in Electronical Engineering.
After college he began his career at Borg Warner Engineering where he worked on atomic clocks for the 1st US military nuclear submarine. He enjoyed a lifelong career in the electronics industry being employed at Gisholt Machine Tool Manufacturing Company, Giddings & Lewis Engineering in Janesville, and Gilman Engineering and Manufacturing Company in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
He was married for 56 years to Irene (Tjugum) Henneman. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He was strong willed, but also sensitive and never "sweat the small stuff." A dent in the car was a learning moment and stolen goods was considered helping out a neighbor. He valued education and hard work. His favorite activities were traveling, dancing with Irene, playing cards, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, and letting Irene do all the talking.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Peggy) Ness, Jeanne (Larry) Menzel, Sandra (Lucio Lanza) Henneman and Rodney Henneman; grandchildren: Tammy (Jon) Denman, Travis (Nancy) Ness, Tyler Ness, Trey (Debbie) Ness, Tanner (Tara) Ness, Tim (Katie) Menzel, Todd (Christie) Menzel, Saasha (Russell) Stanton and Shane Costello; great grandchildren: Logan, Hayden, Tucker, Zack, Kaitlin, Cody, Carly, Breah, Derek, and Silas; two brothers: Kenneth (Barbara) Henneman of California; Vernon "Jerry" Henneman of Eau Claire, WI., many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Jean Tjugum, by his parents, and his brother, Fredrick Henneman.
Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie, on Friday, May 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A lunch will be held afterwards.
