Ernest Reynolds

Ernest W. Reynolds, Jr., age 92, died on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Oakwood Village West. He was born on May 11, 1920 to Ernest and Florence Reynolds in Bristow, Oklahoma. Ernest graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry in 1942. In 1946, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School. He served as a Captain in the US Army from 1947-1949 and was stationed in Germany. Following service in the Army and a brief time in private practice, Ernest served as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan and later in the University of Wisconsin, where he served as Professor of Medicine and Director of Clinical Cardiology. During his years in practice, he co-founded a corporation that was responsible for several significant inventions in the field of cardiac medicine. Following his retirement in 1981, Ernest devoted his time to his true passion - investing in the stock market, as well as reading, researching, and undertaking weekly hiking adventures in Wisconsin's numerous state parks. For many years, he dined each evening at the University of Wisconsin - Memorial Union cafeteria where he met many young students and served as an inspiration to them. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by three generations of friends. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
