MADISON - Ermil Brodbeck, age 91, died on August 7, 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Ermil was born in 1922 in Griffin, Georgia and was raised in Kinsley, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines, where a life-long fascination with planes began. His career included working for Lennox Industries, first in the service department and then in sales. His work took him to several Midwest states and he lived in the St Louis, MO, area for many years.
Ermil enjoyed dancing, playing the organ, carving airplanes, driving trips, serving coffee to the ladies at Coventry and playing with his grandchildren and grand-dogs. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the St Louis Cardinals.
Ermil is survived by his daughters, Jane (Don) Bailey of Middleton and Rhonda Brodbeck of Gaithersburg, Maryland, his granddaughters, Jennifer Bailey of Broomfield, CO, and Carrie Bailey of Longmont, CO. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Eileen Brodbeck in 2008.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rob Olson, Dr. Noelle LoConte, Richelle Fields, Sebring Assisted Living, Dr Kinsley and Agrace Hospice and their staffs for their wonderful care and concern. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UW Carbone Cancer Center or Agrace Hospicecare.
A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at Sebring Assisted Living, 7710 South Brookline Drive, Madison, on Friday, August 15 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place for one half hour before the service.
